Please find some happenings for the Burnett River Bridges Section
Greetings everyone, December started off dry but subsequent rainfall for the month totalling approx. (160mm, bit of a record) was well appreciated, with watering having to be conducted early once this month on small trees at Mount Debateable.
Dirnbir Siding western end fencing had to be re-instated along with a new gate as cattle were presenting a problem with the siding maintenance and beautification projects.
Doug putting in considerable effort in the very humid and hot conditions digging holes, plenty of rock! (Thanks Doug!)
Mowing with the ZT mower at Humphery and Mount Debateable sidings along with suitable trail also has taken place.
Contractors will be engaged for the Boomerang to Slab Creek section and Mundubbera Station to Philpott Creek section hopefully in the coming month.
Maintenance in the form of brush cutting has taken place at Roth’s bridge and abutments at Hutchinson’s and Newton creek bridges, looking good.
Our mango tree at the hub has a reasonable crop this year with a small 2nd pick just taken place. Big Thanks!!!to Stewy Mergard and ‘Banapan Citrus’ with their assistance (cherry picker) to prune this year!!!!
Bird of the month is our Red Tailed Black Cockatoo, on the Alphitonia excelsa (soap/red ash), and White Cedar trees, a joy to listen to them chatting as they forage.
Christmas has come and went; I sincerely hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable festive season.
I believe our volunteers have achieved great things this year and would like to acknowledge every one’s efforts for 2024 with much gratitude, along with our muchly appreciated supporters and sponsors.
The Very Best of Health and Happiness for the coming 2025 year!!!
Cheers
Mike
