Burnett River Bridges Report March 2025

Greetings everyone! An interesting month with very dry conditions until last week where we have managed to receive welcome rain! Monthly total 72mm, up to this time we have conducted tree planting waterings.

The trail art project placing of the 12 plinths has been completed with now attaching of the 12 plaques and then the placing of the paintings on the plinths in time for the opening on Saturday the 10th of May!!! WOW!!

In addition, our first counter has been installed for a month, it will be interesting to see the users. A very BIG Thanks! to all involved in the project along with our sponsors for the project ‘Mundubbera Community Bank.’

A spraying program is being developed for the stone pitched wall at Mount Debateable, with a stand of Leucaena being targeted. Spraying was conducted this month.

Our spraying of Thatch grass at Dirnbir has proven successful with slashing now to take place.

Further spraying along the corridor will continue through Autumn.

Trail maintenance mowing with the Zero turn and contractors has taken place with the majority of the grass growing season now passed. Our mower has clocked up 200 hours of grass maintenance, a real asset.

Doug, Wayne, Mike placed a bench at Humphery Bridge No1 reserve  along with the planting of a Fig tree for future shade.

A much-varied work program for the month, with great bush smoko’s.

Very enjoyable.

A Big Thank You to all the volunteers and supporters for your help and assistance to develop our rail trail!!

Regards

Mike Goebel
