Burnett River Bridges Report November 2024

Please find some happenings for the Burnett River Bridges Section

Greetings everyone, a rather dry November has come and gone with approx. 59mm of rain for the month in 4 different falls, watering will commence again next week if no rainfall.

Completion of stage 1 of the Humphery bridge No 1 fencing project, has secured an area for bridge abutment protection, allowing for a cattle free area and bridge appreciation view point, big thanks to volunteers Doug, Bevan, John and all involved.

Philpott Creek bridge (Mundubbera end) has also been securely fenced with an area for bridge and creek appreciation also established, (Red Backed Fairy Wren haitat!!!). plenty to see from the bridge.

Trail corridor and 3 siding maintenance program has commenced with ZT mowing, brush cutting, chipping and spraying a very busy month with our committed volunteers on many projects, Reid’s creek to Boomerang having received our attention.

The procurement of heritage siding lettering for Builyan, Many Peaks and Golembil has been made possible with the assistance of Ken McDonald of the Mary2Bay rail trail group. Ken facilitated the ordering and collection of the lettering from the Petrie Heritage Village Guild who retain the original QR lettering and numbers moulds, a Big Thanks of appreciation to Ken and members of the Guild!!!

Was great to host our International members from Belgium!! Bart and Ulrike who visited the Gayndah Hub and holidayed in our region (Gayndah to Agnes Waters 1770) for a week.

Doug has been very busy with the Reid’s creek bridge area, much hot!!!! effort put in by Doug making it look great!!!

Bevan and Doug are currently doing a seedling location patrol (nurture, enhance, sustain!) from Hoskin’s grid east to Dirnbir siding, this will protect them when we commence our thatch grass spraying program for that section (2klms).

A very enjoyable month spent on trail activities, with big thanks to our supporters, volunteers and all involved.

Volunteer hours for the month 125

Cheers

Mike
